The
selection of historical sources for digitization is based on user demand, preservation
needs, and scholarly value. Unique folklore materials are stored in the archives
of regional educational institutions, museums, and science centers. Digitization
is an urgent task of our time because of the danger of losing paper records and
should be done in conjunction with the creation of scientific descriptions.
Rules for describing folklore material are not standardized, making it
difficult to establish a common search engine.

Digitization
in the Scientific Archives of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is currently
focused on two areas: the creation of digital finding aids, name indexes and
geographical indexes, and the digitization of important papers and documents at
risk. Digitized inventories made in Word format are currently published on the
website of the Scientific Archives. Master copies of digitized documents are
stored in the TIFF format. This process aims to improve access to the archival
wealth of the Scientific Archives for a wide range of users while preserving
the original documents.

The
valuable body of sources for studying the history of Ukraine in the second half
of the 16th and first half of the 17th centuries is
Ruthenian (Volhynian) metrica. These books contain official acts published from
1569 to 1673 by the Crown chancellery concerning subjects of the Ukrainian
lands. In this paper, the concept of Web publication of Metrica is considered,
its hypertextual structure is shown, and prospects of development of the
project are illustrated. The information potential of an HTML version is shown
using an example of one of the Metrica.

The
article presents fulltext databases containing Russian- and English-language
documents from the mass media containing verbal representatives of the concept
“aggression”. Each database consists of 120 annotated text units. The
annotation covers lexical, semantic and pragmatic levels. Special metrics and a
local dictionary of the semantic field of “aggression” accompany each text. The
database can be implemented in scientific research on speechology, for
improving computer-aided Internet monitoring systems, in pedagogy, and for
improving search systems based on the semantic field of “aggression”.

Customs
and tavern books of Russia from the 17th and 18th centuries are valuable
sources for historians and linguists. Some thousands of these documents remain
in the central and regional archives and libraries of Russia. An important task
is the creation of a summary catalog of customs and tavern books and a
bibliography of research on these sources. It is expedient to unite data on
customs and tavern books in a uniform database open to additions and
corrections.
